direct, loving responses

I've come up with some responses to common comments D and I hear about our kiddos.
They are direct, they don't leave a lot of wiggle room for further comments, and they turn a sour lemon into lemonaid.
For the responses to work, you have to really mean them and say them with a big, bright smile on your face.

"Wow, you sure have your hands full."
-I wouldn't have it any other way! Children are a blessing from the Lord.

"Once they start talking, you'll wish they shut up!"
-I'm so excited to hear their thoughts! Children are a blessing from the Lord.

"Just wait until they start hating each other."
-We're working on teaching them how to show love to each other. Children are such a blessing from the Lord.

"You must be so exhausted!"
-I enjoy being a parent. It's not always easy, but children are a blessing from the Lord.

"Enjoy them now because before you know it, they'll be grown and (insert negative behavior)."
We're cherishing each day. Children are a blessing from the Lord.

The moral of the story: if you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all. And if you have something negative said to you, know how to stop the negativity and directly show that person love.

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court. Psalm 137:3-5
